Hello. Its Target Style Tuesday. I am loving the Fall weather here in St Louis and Target is packed with amazing Fall essentials.
If you have not seen the A New Day collection at Target in person you have to check it out the next time you are in. I love having versatile pieces in my wardrobe I can wear so many different ways without breaking the bank.
Fall weather is all about layers. It’s cool in the morning and gets warm in the afternoon. This A New Day oatmeal sweater kept me warm while hitting the outdoor shops in St. Charles.
It is the perfect layering sweater to go with jeans, leggings, dresses, even joggers. Throw it on and go. It comes in 3 colors.
Fit tip: I am 5″4 wearing a small and it hangs to my knees.
When it warms up the sweater comes off and I found this dark denim button down. I love the classic cut and style of this shirt. There are literally thousands of possibilities with dark denim tops. I am dying to wear this with my new leopard coat but until it gets cold this would be great with a cream pleated skirt, olive jeans, light wash denim, or the white denim like I’m wearing. I’m wearing the top in a small.
Let’s talk accessories! (My FAVORITE) When you have great versatile basics like the Oatmeal sweater, dark denim button down, and white jeans the sky is the limit with accessories. Today I was keeping it neutral.
Hats! I love wearing hats for many reasons, one it shields my face from the sun and two I don’t have to worry about wind-blown hair. Yeah!
Hat advice: If you don’t think you’re a hat person I say just try some on. Target is the perfect place to try because their hats are not expensive. Wearing hats immediately makes your look more fashionable and no one has to know you just didn’t have time to fix your hair. Lol.
This DV tote is amazing it looks so expensive. It feels like suede and has these sweet little metal details. It’s perfect for weekend shopping and stashing all your kid’s snacks and toys but during the week its big enough for my laptop and work essentials. This fur pom keychain I got in the dollar spot area for $3 (I bought every color) and I can’t tell you how many people have commented on it. I love adding little details to mix it up.
My bracelet is by a local St Louis designer Collections by Joya. This Jasper bracelet is one you could wear almost daily. The quality and simplistic design are amazing. Additional bonus: Collections by Joya is a give back company that helps women all around the world so with every purchase you are helping women in need. Win-Win!!
That is all my Target Style Tips for this Tuesday. Are you in the mood for a #targethaul?
I spoke with Target headquarters in MN to get the inside scoop on all these new brands Target has. A New Day is one of my new FAVS. So many fun current pieces and good quality. Here is what they told me:
“A New Day (a.n.d.) is our new womens apparel and accessories brand. It launched in early September, debuting a modern classic aesthetic with modernized prints and patterns. Additionally, the brand is focused on building confidence through versatility. This is a storytelling brand and reflects the idea that theres always something more. This brand is meant to convey a feminine aesthetic, with confidence and a little wink.”
I have been loving all the embroidery this fall and found this adorable jacket and tank. I wore this last week to a business casual meeting I was at in Kansas City and got so many compliments.
Logan my oldest son signed up to be the “Chicken Checker” at school one weekend. He loves animals so of course, he’s obsessed with these funny chickens they have at his school.
The role of a “chicken checker” is to wake the chickens up at 8:00 am (they like you to keep them on schedule), Feed, Water, etc. I think Logan has a future as a farmer because he was so excited each day to take on his role. His grandpa would have been proud. After the morning chores, he loved running around, picking them up, chasing them, watching them peck and kick up mulch.
The evening chores start at 8 pm. The chicken checker rounds up all the chickens and gets them in their coop for the night. (This was not easy, herding chickens is hard work).
It is such a great learning experience for the kids. Logan even told me he saw one lay an egg one day. LOL.
Target has so many adorable fall options. Both Logan and Mason are wearing @TargetStyle.
Nashville here we come! We have been planning this girls weekend for months. On our agenda: Shopping, spa treatments, great restaurants, photo-ops, and fun night life.
From St. Louis, it took us about 4 1/2 hours to get to Nashville. We arrived just in time for lunch so we headed straight to Caviar and Bananas. I heard about this place from one of my favorite Nashville bloggers: Living with Landyn.
This place is gorgeous. It’s a fast casual cafe and market. We created our own sandwiches and salads. They have huge pastries, cookies the size of a dinner plate, a coffee bar, wine, brunch, cheese plates and Fro-zay that looked amaze!
Curious about the name? I was. An employee told me originally it started as a market and expanded into a cafe selling everything from Caviar to Bananas. Clever. The decor alone made me so happy.
We had manicure appointments booked that afternoon at Poppy and Monroe, a natural salon in Germantown.
We got relaxing gel manicures, picked the perfect neutral nail color #30 and soaked up the peace and quiet without having the kids around. Next time I want to try the sugaring which is a natural alternative to waxing. Have you tried sugaring? The salon also has amazing natural skin care, jewelry, and other goodies in their gift shop.
After dinner, we had to make a sweet treat stop to Five Daughters Bakery.
We indulged in the decadent Maple, Chocolate, and Purtin. These are 100 layer cronuts. They are unlike anything I’ve tasted – nothing like a regular donut – because they have 100 layers of heaven in each bite. Yum!
We started off with breakfast at Proper Bagel. We ordered a trio of tasty toast and the must-have lavender honey iced latte. You have to try it. Avacado Toast, Pruchetto and Fig, and Peaches and Cream with a honey lavender latte. Bring it on.
After fueling up we couldn’t wait to check out 12South. This place is a little piece of heaven. Shops, Restaurants, Murals for photo ops and the cutest flower truck to take home a bouquet.
Amelia’s Flower Truck cruises around town but lucky for us the truck was at White’s Mercantile. You can pick flower stems to create your own bouquet.
Draper James is Reese Witherspoon’s boutique. They have the sweetest southern style clothing and accessories. The shop is pricey but it worth a trip into browse. They even greet you with a sweet tea to enjoy while you shop.
There are so many fun murals and painted walls to get your photo.
Next door to Draper James is Sprinkles Cupcake ATM. OMG, WHAT!! This concept is genius. I had to get a couple cupcakes for my boys. I opted for the pumpkin and sprinkle cupcakes. They loved!!
After shopping, photos and cupcakes we needed some pampering. We had set appointments for blowouts at Parlor 3. This salon is where Nashville celebs get their hair done. The owner works with Carrie Underwood. One of my favorite bloggers, Living with Landyn, always talks about Parlor 3.
My stylist was Derick. He just moved to Nashville from LA and was so sweet. He said it was his first job in a salon. He had been working with celebs in LA and NYC doing celebrity events. He was modest about the celebs he had worked with but on his IG account @derekpeterw, he has pics with Khloe Kardashian, Gweneth Paltrow, Whitney Everport, Rebecca Romijin and tons of others. I loved feeling like the celebs do for an afternoon.
Tip: If you are in Nashville, go to Parlour 3 on Saturday. They said Saturday is there slowest day but book in advance. We had the best service and time.
After getting our hair done we were ready for a night out in Nashville. The first stop was The Thompson Hotel. They have a swanky rooftop bar called L.A. Jackson that overlooks the Gulch. It was the perfect night. We order some cocktails and an app and enjoyed the fresh air and Nashville glow.
Since we had our dancing shoes on, we headed to Broadway we went to Acme Feed and Seed. This was a four-floor honkey tonk on Broadway. Each floor had a totally different vibe. We spent most of the night on the first floor listening to the live band, watching the bachelorette parties, and dancing.
Thankfully The Renaissance Nashville Hotel was a quick uber ride back.
The weather has cooled off in St. Louis so I’m obsessed with getting my boys outside as much as possible. Many nights we will take our dinner to a playground or park and enjoy the outside while we eat. Being a working mom, I don’t have loads of time with my boys so I try to find ways to make our time together special without a lot of work.
Here’s what we do:
Keep a blanket, towel, even your yoga mats in your car so you can be spontaneous when you’re in the picnic mood.
If packing food isn’t an option and you’re not in the mood for fast food, we like to get “grab and go” from The Art of Entertaining in Webster Groves. They have healthy options my kids like too. Mason is eating the Smart Start breakfast option which includes fruit, yogurt, and a popular mini muffin.
One additional thing I like to do is use these fun kids conversation cards to generate interesting dialogue with my boys. It helps keep topics off the bathroom which for some reason boys love to talk about. 🙁 LOL
Fill me in on how you like to picnic. Have fun enjoying your quality outdoor time.
On a side note, my boys LOVE dogs. They want to pet every dog they see. I was recently looking for some cute graphic T’s for a family photo and found these adorable options.
